OUR AIM
At Smoothstone Care and Education we provide safe, nurturing care and aspirational educational opportunities for children and young people aged 11 to 19 who face barriers to their learning. Barriers may include: autism; communication difficulties; associated challenging behaviours; or other sensory based learning difficulties.
Our Education offer is highly personalised and accommodates a wide range of learning abilities up to GCSE level and other formal accreditation. We offer a fully integrated package of Care, Education, Health and Therapy and we work together to promote a culture based on unconditional positive regard aiming to develop confidence, self motivation and independence.
OUR VISION
We believe that a young person’s needs are best met through an integrated package of Health, Care, Education and Therapy. It is our vision that every young person meets their full potential and is able to participate meaningfully in society.
PLAY AREAS
Play areas are an important space for children, providing a space for pretending, expressing themselves and using their imagination. Play areas promote social skills including thinking, problem solving, communication and turn taking. Play areas are also important for developing physical dexterity, co-ordination and good health.
